I had a fun wild and one first birthday smash and splash session, and boy did this sweet boy really smash and splash!  Before the fun began, we started with some traditional family portraits just in the front of the family’s home.  I like to include a mini family session with my first birthdays to document all the siblings as well as Mom and Dad.  often times, we focus on photos of our children that we forget to get ourselves in photos WITH our children.  The mini session typically last only 10 mins, but that is all you need to get some nice family portraits to last a life time.  For this particular family portrait, they had a great navy blue bench at the doorway.  I was thrilled to be able to use this piece in their photos, and would love to find one to purchase for myself!!

After the family session, we moved into the house to set up of the cake smash.  Mom and Dad chose a rustic scene with arrows. They also wanted to include the colors of green and blue since their other two boys’ first birthday photos had green and blue colors.  I included green and blue into the arrows on the teepee and the arrow banner.  I think it was just the perfect amount of color to this rustic scene.

Once it was time for cake smashing, this little guy wasted no time.  He dug right into his cake and made a big mess!  The messier the better with cake smash session!  He actually ate a lot of his cake and gave a big burp to prove it 🙂  We ended the session with the splash portion which he also throughly enjoyed.
