This family sessions took place at the very end of summer in September and it was the perfect kick off session for the fall season! How lucky that we were able to get some beautiful fall colors as well as some summer colors all in one session!
I have known Kristen (the Mother of the family) for some time now. We used to teach together way back when she was pregnant with her youngest daughter! Her daughter is now 9 years old, so that gives you an idea of long ago we used to teach together. We lost touch after we moved jobs but we connected again when she was assigned to be my son’s teacher in Gaston Country Schools! What a small world! She is a fantastic and loving teacher and I was just thrilled that she would be helping my son.
For their session, they wanted something by the lake since they live near Lake Norman. My fist questions was, “would you be willing to get IN the lake?” She and the family was into the idea and the photos turned out fantastic! We started with some photos by a beautiful dogwood tree that had started to change it’s leaves. The sun was shining through the leaves beautifully! We then moved down by the lake as the sun was setting. We got a variety of photos by the lake, including my favorite sillouhette photo. We then headed into the lake for the last set of photos and they are some of my favorites! After the family, I gave the girls each a large balloon to get some fun playful photos. They enjoyed splashing each other at the end of the session and they made for great photos.
Take a look at these unique photos!
