I sweet newborn session up on the blog today with a beautiful baby girl born on Christmas Day!
We planned this session on New years day but had to incorporate one Christmas photo since to represent her Christmas birthday. Once I got baby girl all wrapped snug in in the box prop, she gave me one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever captured in a newborn session! I’m so glad I’m able to give this photos to Mom and Dad.
For the remainder of the session, we planned a pastel set up. Dad purchased the sweetest newborn outfit for his little girl! I do have to say, this newborn outfit was very nice and fit her well! Lot of times when parents bring in an outfit, it will most likely be too big, but this unicorn set was just perfect. I love the soft pastel colors and whimsical feel.
Since Daddy purchased a unicorn outfit, I had to break out my unicorn backdrop I hand painted for a cake smash session I did in March of 2018. I planned a set up using some greenery and gold berries and lots of texture and top of my backdrop. When Mom and Dad brought in the unicorn tutu, the colors matched perfectly!
At the start of the session, sweet baby girl had some tummy troubles and had a hard time falling asleep. Dad was a pro helping her burp and soothing her! Eventually, after about 2 hours, baby girl finally fell asleep long enough for some photos. I managed to get a few of her on the white fabric with the unicorn outfit as well as a few other poses. My favorite pose is the side laying pose because it is so natural and comfortable for the baby. In fact, my four year old daughter sleeps with her hands tucked under her cheek.
We also squeezed in some parent photos. I did my first backlit photo with my new light modifier and I absolutely love it! It was so easy just to pace the light in back of the subject on the lowest power. It mimics window light, which I love, but we can’t always count on the sun. I will defiantly be incorporating backlit photos into my future sessions!
Enjoy!
