One of the best things about photography is documenting special moments, like the arrival of a new baby. I was honored to capture this new family of five. There is so much love in this family and these photos show how much this new little girl is loved. The family of five welcomed a tiny little 6 lb baby girl the beginning of August. I was able to capture these photos 1 week after her delivery. At the time of these photos, she was an itty bitty baby. I first met this family back when they were a family of four for fall photos. Less than a year later, I’m capturing their maternity photos in the sunflowers, and next documenting becoming a family of five. It’s amazing how much can change in less than a year! All good changes of course!
For this session, we started with some sweet sibling photos. Big Brother and Sister absolutely love their new little sister. We were able to get some sweet photos and great interaction amounts them. We followed with some family photos, photos of Mom and Dad, and last, single photos of the new baby girl. Sweet baby girl had some tummy troubles and we rescheduled a another day to get additional photos of her. Mom and I could see she was just not feeling well and decided to hold off on some photos and try again on another day. The next rescheduled day, she did beautifully and we were able to get the photos that Mom really wanted.
When I’m posing a newborn, I’m watching for any signs of discomfort. Newborns are humans, and each one is different and may not go into certain poses and easily as another baby. I will never force a baby into a pose they are not comfortable in, in fact there are some poses I will not do because they can be unsafe if not properly done. I consider the babies’ safety a priority over getting a certain photo.
Some of my favorite photos in this session is the close up of baby girl’s long eyelashes!! Her eyelashes were fair but so long and I’m glad I was able to capture them! My next favorite photos is the one with Mom holding her nose to nose. I feel this photo captures how small she is 🙂 Enjoy the this family of five as they welcome their newest baby into the family.
