This maternity session is very special and close to my heart. Here is a little backstory on this amazing couple and the journey they have been on.
Backstory; Almost exactly one year ago, I took some beautiful maternity photos for this couple amongst the the azaleas in Rock Hill SC. They were first time parents and were so excited to meet their little boy in June. Conceiving for this couple was not easy, so when they found out they were expecting, it was so much sweeter.
Devastating News; The end of May comes and I get a devastating phone call that their sweet boy was born sleeping at 38 weeks. They named their boy Henry David. It was such a shock for them as everything was healthy and normal all throughout the pregnancy. I attended the funeral on June 2 2018 and it was the most sad and tearful funeral I’ve ever attended. I’m glad I was there to give Mom and Dad a big hug and support. I’ve prayed that they will be parents some day soon. In December of 2018, Mom revealed to me she was regnant again and her due date was the beginning of July! I was so incredibly happy for them!! It was a tough year for them morning the loss of their first son Henry but celebrating a new life. Oh, and it is also a boy!!! Amazing!
Mom was unsure if she wanted maternity photos again, just because it would be the same time of year as with Henry, but we decided to go ahead and take some special maternity photos and I’m so glad we did! They live close to Chapel Hill, so I decided to drive out that way for their maternity photos. We did their photos on the Chapel Hill Campus which is where they both attended. The azeals were in full bloom the end of April and stunning! We also took some photos at the bell tower, and arboretum. The gown she wore by Silk Fairies was perfect for a little boy and chapel hill colors!
One special photo we incorporated was with their Henry Bear. This special bear is the same Henry was at birth, which is just over 5 lbs. It has his name on the belly and is made to help Parents through mourn and begin to heal. We took a few shots with the special Henry bear and these photos bring a tear to my eye.
At the end of the session, we discussed the newborn session. Though a bit hesitant, we were confident all would go well this time and their sweet baby boy would be in their arms.
I can’t wait to blog about their newborn session in June!! Stay tuned!!
